The Annenberg Space for Photography is a cultural destination dedicated to exhibiting both digital and print photography in Los Angeles, California. David Mascarina was part of the Marketing and Communications team at the Annenberg Foundation where he oversaw the redesign of the website as well as the digital content strategy.
A Digital-Savvy Audience
The team found that a majority of the visitors of the Annenberg Space for Photography website use their mobile devices, are technology aficionados and have interest in the creative space. The challenge was to establish the Annenberg Space for Photography’s digital space as a destination for content, lift up stories of world-renowned photographers and highlight the beautiful imagery they’ve showcased in the space.
Partnering with Los Angeles-based creative firm, Hello Design and New York-based website development and technology firm, Advomatic, we developed a new digital destination for the Annenberg Space for Photography patrons. The website also resulted with highlighting over 20,000 images and one of the largest database of photographers in the world, after the National Geographic. We also created a website that elevated stories of world-renowned photographers as well as created an award-winning web presence.
Telling a photographer’s story
One of David’s initiatives was to interview photographers who lecture at the Annenberg Spce for Photography. This became the Inside Iris Nights video series. Hundreds of video clips ranging from the fashion industry to the National Geographic, these artists shared their technical and creative knowledge to the world.
